Amazon's AI Can Create a Product Listing From a Website URL

Amazon is making it easier for sellers to create high-quality product listings with the introduction of a new generative AI feature. Sellers can now simply provide a URL from their own website, and Amazon's AI will generate a complete product page, including a detailed description and images.

Previously, creating product pages on Amazon required significant effort from sellers to develop and input accurate and comprehensive product details. The new AI tool streamlines this process by transforming existing product pages on other websites into rich product listings tailored to Amazon's store with far less effort.

"We're now making it even easier for sellers to accomplish this with the ability to transform their existing product pages on other websites into rich product listings tailored to Amazon's store, with far less effort." - Mary Beth Westmoreland, Vice President of Worldwide Selling Partner Experience at Amazon

The generative AI capabilities build upon some of Amazon's previous initiatives, which allow sellers to provide a few descriptive words or an image of their product to generate titles, descriptions, and attributes. Amazon says these features have already been used by over 100,000 selling partners, with the majority of AI-generated listings being submitted and suggested attributes being accepted nearly 80% of the time with minimal edits.

Comparing AI-generated content to non-AI generated content, Amazon has observed improvements in clarity, accuracy, and detail, potentially increasing a product's discoverability in customer searches. Sellers have also reported time savings, allowing them to focus more on product development, a benefit particularly valuable to small businesses.

As the generative AI tools continue to learn and evolve, Amazon anticipates even more relevant results for sellers, further reducing effort while improving the efficacy of generated listings. Westmoreland emphasized, "Across the business, Amazon is actively developing powerful new AI tools and capabilities, and we are even more optimistic about the future capabilities and positive seller impact of these offerings."

The implications of this development are particularly profound for small businesses, which stand to benefit from the time saved in listing creation. This allows them to allocate more resources toward product development and other critical aspects of their business. Furthermore, the adoption of generative AI is not just about efficiency; it's also about enhancing the customer experience by providing clearer, more accurate, and detailed product listings.

The new URL-based generative AI feature is starting to roll out now and will be available to U.S. sellers in the coming weeks.
