ChatGPT Can Now Search Your Files, Emails, and Meeting Notes

Starting today, ChatGPT can connect to a growing list of services—Google Drive, Dropbox, Outlook, SharePoint, Box, and more—to pull in real-time context for your queries.

Key Points:

  • ChatGPT now connects to Google Drive, Outlook, SharePoint, and more
  • Enterprise users can build custom data connectors using MCP
  • Mac users can record meetings directly into ChatGPT
  • Features honor user access permissions by default

Think: asking ChatGPT for Q4 revenue numbers and having it scan your team’s spreadsheet folder or searching for the latest pricing model across meeting notes, emails, and slide decks. Crucially, it respects whatever file permissions and access controls your org already has in place.

For power users on the Team, Enterprise, and Education tiers, there’s more: admins can now build custom connectors using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It’s still in beta, but it means you can plug ChatGPT into internal wikis, CRM systems, or proprietary knowledge bases—and have it search, synthesize, and respond with that data like it’s part of its native memory. Plus and Pro users can also get in on MCP if they’re experimenting solo.

One particularly slick feature rolling out to Mac users with Team plans is “record mode.” It does exactly what it sounds like: captures any meeting, voice note, or brainstorm session and turns it into a transcript. Then it distills that into action items, summaries, or even working code if that’s what you’re after. Support for Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu is coming soon.

All this points to OpenAI’s broader push to make ChatGPT more useful beyond the chat box. By giving it direct access to the sources of truth inside a company, it’s not just answering questions—it’s starting to do real work.
