Google announced today that its Gemini AI will come standard feature across its Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans starting in the fourth quarter of 2024. This means that organizations will no longer need to purchase Gemini as a separate add-on, making the AI assistant more accessible to a wider range of businesses.
Google emphasizes that Gemini won't use an organization's data, generated responses, or user prompts to train or improve its AI model. Workspace administrators will also get more control over Gemini's data retention practices, including the ability to manage storage of generated responses and user prompts.
Google is also enhancing Gemini's security credentials. The company announced that Gemini for Workspace now carries SOC 1/2/3 and ISO 27701 industry certifications for security and privacy standards. This move aims to provide organizations with greater confidence when implementing the chatbot in corporate environments.
In addition to the Gemini expansion, Google is introducing a new "Security Advisor" tool for Workspace customers. This feature will deliver tailored security insights directly to IT administrators, offering guidance on implementing threat defenses, account security measures, and data protection capabilities across Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive.
The Security Advisor rollout is set to begin "over the next few weeks" for paying Workspace customers, reflecting Google's efforts to strengthen overall cybersecurity measures for businesses using its productivity suite.
