Elon Musk's xAI has unveiled Colossus, the world's largest AI supercomputer, located in Memphis, Tennessee. The construction of Colossus also showcases a collaboration with Supermicro, using their state-of-the-art liquid-cooled racks. Each rack features eight servers equipped with eight NVIDIA H100 GPUs, creating groups of 512 GPUs in mini-clusters that are engineered for efficiency and high performance. This advanced networking setup, combined with NVIDIA's BlueField-3 SuperNICs, ensures that Colossus maintains a level of performance that is critical for training large-scale AI models. According to NVIDIA, the system experiences zero latency degradation, even under the demanding conditions of AI training.
