Shutterstock has launched a new enterprise option for their "Generative 3D" service in commercial beta. Their tool allows designers to quickly create 3D assets and 360-degree HDR environments using text or image prompts. The company says it has been working with NVIDIA for a year to train the models and is now ready to release it publicly. The service aims to speed up the creative process, enabling artists to focus on design rather than the tedious aspects of 3D modeling.

For example, designers can quickly generate items like silverware and plates for a dining scene, allowing them to concentrate on other elements. The 3D assets generated are ready for further editing in popular digital content creation tools and come in various file formats.

Getty Images has also announced an upgrade to its “Generative AI by Getty Images” service. The upgrades are impressive: image generation is now twice as fast, with improved quality and accuracy. They've also added advanced controls for things like camera settings and composition, plus the ability for companies to fine-tune the AI with their own branded data.

Both of these services are built on NVIDIA's Edify, their multimodal generative AI architecture. This is part of NVIDIA's broader push with their new AI Foundry services and NVIDIA NIM, their accelerated microservices for AI inference.

What's the bigger picture here? NVIDIA is strategically expanding beyond its traditional role as an infrastructure provider. They're now positioning themselves as a comprehensive AI solutions partner for enterprises. By offering AI-as-a-Service models like Edify, NVIDIA is enabling companies to rapidly deploy custom AI tools tailored to their specific needs. This move isn't just about superior processing speed – though that's certainly part of it. NVIDIA is betting big on the value of their platform's foundation in properly licensed data. This approach directly addresses the copyright and ethical concerns that have dogged many other generative AI services. It's a calculated move to differentiate themselves in an increasingly crowded and controversial AI market.

For creatives, this could mean more time for high-level design work and less time on technical grunt work. For businesses, it opens up new possibilities in rapid prototyping and customized content creation.
