A Viral Video of EngineAI's SE01 Robot Walking puts Chinese Robotics Firm in Spotlight

Chinese robotics firm EngineAI is turning heads with the release of a new video showing its SE01 humanoid robot walking outside its Shenzhen office. The footage which was incorrectly accused of being CGI, shows just how far China has progressed with humanoid robotics in the last year. The timing coincides with EngineAI’s CES debut, where it showcased its full lineup, including the SE01, SA01, and PM01 humanoid robots.

Key Points:

  • New video demonstrates SE01's natural walking gait in outdoor conditions
  • Company displayed three humanoid robots at CES - SA01, SE01, PM01
  • Production target set at 1,000 units across all models by end of 2025

While it is unclear if the robot was being teleoperated, the robot’s remarkably natural gait is impressive.

The video drop comes on the heels of EngineAI’s debut at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, where the company introduced its full lineup of humanoid robots. The SE01, standing at 1.7 meters tall and weighing 55 kilograms, is tailored for industrial tasks like heavy lifting and precision assembly. EngineAI’s SA01, a bipedal robot designed for research and education, and the PM01, a lightweight open-source platform, round out the company’s offerings.

Zhao Tongyang, CEO of EngineAI Robotics, emphasized the company’s mission to advance embodied intelligence. “Our vision is to create versatile, scalable humanoid robots that serve humanity across industries,” Zhao said. “The SE01’s natural gait and the PM01’s accessibility are just the beginning.”

At CES, EngineAI highlighted the versatility of its robots. The SA01 offers educational institutions a customizable platform, while the PM01 provides developers with a compact, dynamic humanoid capable of agile movement and cross-platform algorithm deployment. With prices starting at $12,000 for the PM01 and $5,400 for the SA01, EngineAI aims to democratize access to advanced robotics technology.

EngineAI plans to scale production to over 1,000 units annually by 2025 and expand its product lineup to include additional robots for industrial and home use.
