Adobe Launches Free Web App for You to Add Content Credentials to Your Work

Adobe is expanding its Content Credentials feature with a new free web app designed to help you protect your work, get proper credit, and opt out of generative AI training. The Content Authenticity web app, launching in beta early next year, provides a centralized way for you to add metadata—or "nutrition labels"—to your images, videos, and audio files, with your information and how your content was made.

The web app allows you to apply Content Credentials in bulk, simplifying the process of attaching your details to digital works. This not only helps you receive attribution but also helps protect your work from unauthorized use or misrepresentation.

A key feature of the new web app is its ability to let you signal that you do not want your content used to train generative AI models—a response to growing concerns among creators about unauthorized AI usage. While Adobe's own AI models, such as Firefly, only train on licensed content, the opt-out feature aims to set a broader industry standard. Currently, only a handful of AI developers, like Spawning, have committed to respecting these preferences, but Adobe is actively pushing for wider adoption.

To enhance transparency, Adobe is also introducing an Inspect tool and a Google Chrome extension to help you verify Content Credentials on any content you encounter online. Even if provenance details are stripped during distribution, Adobe's combination of digital fingerprinting, invisible watermarking, and cryptographic metadata helps keep these credentials intact—giving you stronger protection and greater trust in the content you create.

Some social media platforms like LinkedIn have already rolled out support for displaying the content credentials pin on images created with participating tools or software.

The Content Authenticity Initiative was founded in 2019 and now includes over 3,700 partners. The web app is free to use and doesn't require an active subscription to Adobe services, signaling Adobe's commitment to making creator protection accessible to all.
