The announcement:

We are Eureka Labs and we are building a new kind of school that is AI native.
How can we approach an ideal experience for learning something new? For example, in the case… pic.twitter.com/RHPkqdjB8R
The company's vision is to create an ideal learning experience by pairing high-quality course materials with AI-powered teaching assistants. This approach aims to overcome the scarcity of expert human tutors while providing personalized, on-demand education at scale.
"With recent progress in generative AI, this learning experience feels tractable," Karpathy explains. "The teacher still designs the course materials, but they are supported, leveraged and scaled with an AI Teaching Assistant who is optimized to help guide the students through them."
The company's inaugural offering, LLM101n, is billed as "the world's obviously best AI course." The course will guide students through building a Storyteller AI Large Language Model (LLM) from scratch. Participants will create, refine, and illustrate stories with their AI, all while developing a ChatGPT-like web app using Python, C, and CUDA. Eureka Labs plans to offer the course materials online and run both virtual and in-person cohorts.
This isn't Karpathy's first foray into education. He's been creating learning content for years, including Stanford's popular CS231n course. His recent "Zero-to-Hero" AI video series was a hit in tech circles. But Eureka Labs marks his first full-time plunge into merging AI with education.
"It's the culmination of my passion in both AI and education over about two decades," Karpathy explained. He's excited to turn what was once a side gig into his main focus.
The name "Eureka" comes from the Greek expression of discovery - that aha moment when everything clicks. That's exactly what Karpathy wants to spark in people's minds.
