Clutch Security Raises $20M Series A to Tackle Machine Identity Protection

Clutch Security has secured $20 million in Series A funding to expand its non-human identity (NHI) security platform. The round was led by SignalFire, with participation from existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Merlin Ventures, bringing the company's total funding to $28.5 million.

Key Points:

  • Funding will support expansion of go-to-market efforts, R&D, and product development
  • Platform integrates with nearly 60 infrastructure services and applications
  • Company targets growing enterprise demand for machine identity protection amid AI adoption

The Tel Aviv-based startup, founded in October 2023, has developed a platform that provides unified visibility and management of machine identities—including API keys, service accounts, tokens, and certificates—across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments. The company's rapid development is notable, having built its minimum viable product within three months of its first hires in February.

"Our unique Zero Trust approach to NHI security has resonated deeply with enterprise customers," said Ofir Har-Chen, Co-Founder and CEO of Clutch Security. "This funding is a testament to the recognition that NHI security is no longer optional—it's critical."

The investment reflects growing market awareness of machine identity security challenges. According to research from Venafi, the average number of machine identities in typical large enterprises has more than tripled from 320,000 in 2022 to 1 million in 2024, driven by increased adoption of cloud services, DevOps automation, and AI systems.

Clutch's platform addresses this expansion through its Identity Lineage technology, which tracks the origin, ownership, and usage of machine identities while providing real-time anomaly detection and risk prioritization. The company has gained particular traction in the banking and financial services sectors, where complex IT environments and substantial cloud footprints create acute security challenges.

"What Clutch has achieved in such a short time is remarkable," said Guru Chahal, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. "Their work is already pushing cybersecurity forward in meaningful ways, and as enterprises start embracing agentic AI, I believe Clutch will be transformative."

The company plans to use the new funding to accelerate customer adoption through an expanded go-to-market team, while continuing to enhance its platform capabilities and grow its workforce to support enterprise customers.
