Google is giving U.S. college students its best AI tools for free through finals 2026, hoping to win over the next generation of users by embedding itself into their daily academic lives. Starting this week, eligible students can claim 15 months of free access to Google One AI Premium, which includes Gemini Advanced—Google’s most capable AI model—and a suite of study and productivity tools designed to support everything from exam prep to resume writing.
Key Points:
- 15 months of free AI access for verified U.S. college students
- Includes Gemini Advanced, NotebookLM Plus, and 2TB storage
- Students must sign up with a .edu email by June 30, 2025
To qualify, students must be 18 or older, based in the U.S., and have a valid .edu email address. They need to sign up using their personal Gmail account by June 30, 2025. Once verified, they’ll get access until June 30, 2026—no payment required, as long as they reverify enrollment in 2025.
The subscription, which typically costs $19.99 per month, unlocks a powerful set of tools built around Gemini 2.5 Pro. That includes Gemini Advanced, which can handle deep research, generate video with Veo 2, summarize documents into podcasts, and integrate seamlessly with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail. Students can also use Gemini Live to talk through assignments, rehearse presentations, or get real-time help on tough topics via screen and camera sharing.
Also bundled in the deal is NotebookLM Plus, Google’s AI-powered research assistant, with upgraded limits for note-taking and summarization. Students get 5x more audio overviews, up to 500 notebooks, and support for 300 sources per notebook. There’s also Whisk, an AI creative tool that lets users combine text and images to create animated visuals. And to top it off, the plan includes 2TB of cloud storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Photos—enough to keep years of assignments, research, and media backed up.
Students who already subscribed to a discounted Google One plan can switch, but they’ll need to cancel their current plan and wait for the billing cycle to end before redeeming the free offer.
