Google Begins Rolling Out AI-Powered Vids app

Earlier this week, Google began rolling out Vids, its new AI-powered video creation app, for Google Workspace users. The idea is to create a tool to help professionals tell engaging stories through video — without the hassle.

Vids helps users create video drafts using a prompt, suggesting stock media, adding scene transitions, and even providing AI-generated scripts. If you prefer, you can record your own voice or use one of Gemini’s preset AI voices. You can also create and use templates like meeting recaps, project updates, help center tutorials, and more to easily get started with creating a video.

Top Features:

  • Generate video presentations using a simple prompt.
  • Auto-insert stock footage, add voiceovers, and generate scripts with AI.
  • Drop in documents, slides, and recordings to create polished videos.

Vids will be available by default to select Google Workspace users and supports multiple languages, though some AI features are currently limited to English. Google says full access to Vids' features will continue until at least 2026, after which some usage limits may apply.

Vids provides an intuitive interface, similar to other Google tools like Docs and Slides, enabling collaboration and sharing directly in your browser.
