Google Cloud is rolling out Agentspace, a cutting-edge AI platform designed to help enterprises centralize and manage custom AI agents across their organization. By combining advanced generative AI with seamless data integration, Agentspace enables businesses to break down silos, streamline workflows, and transform how employees access and utilize information.
Key Points:
- Agentspace combines Gemini’s AI capabilities with Google-quality search to create custom, enterprise-specific AI agents.
- NotebookLM Plus offers secure data synthesis and audio summaries, tailored for enterprise needs.
- Agentspace’s multimodal search acts as a single source of truth for organizations, enabling complex queries and actionable insights.
The announcement comes as organizations increasingly grapple with scattered information across multiple systems, with employees typically juggling four to six different tools just to find answers to basic questions.
At the heart of Agentspace is NotebookLM Plus, an enterprise version of Google's document analysis tool. The system allows employees to upload and synthesize information, and includes "Audio Overviews", a novel feature that converts documents into podcast-style audio summaries. Early adopters at Deloitte have already found creative uses for this capability, with one consultant, Vivek Kulkarni, noting that he uses his drive time to digest earnings call transcripts through audio summaries.
The platform's AI search agent leverages Gemini 2.0 to create what Google calls a "central source of enterprise truth." Rather than just returning results, the system can engage in conversations, make suggestions, and take actions based on company data. It works across structured and unstructured information, breaking down traditional data silos through pre-built connectors to popular enterprise tools.
"Knowledge fuels our work," says Kevin Laughridge, Alphabet Google US Lead Alliance Partner at Deloitte Consulting LLP. "Our knowledge management teams are impressed with Google Agentspace's ability to unify information scattered across various data silos."
Custom AI agents represent the third pillar of Agentspace, allowing developers to create specialized tools for their specific needs. These agents can handle tasks from marketing content creation to expense report management. Google plans to release a low-code visual tool that will enable employees to build and customize their own agents.
The platform appears to be resonating with early adopters. Nokia's Chief Digital Officer, Alan Triggs, points to the system's ability to "blend various data sources and deliver personalized, contextually relevant answers" as a key benefit. Meanwhile, at Decathlon, teams see promise in faster decision-making and improved customer experiences.
Security remains a priority, with Google building Agentspace on its "secure by design" infrastructure. The platform includes role-based access control, VPC service controls, and IAM integration to ensure data protection and compliance.
Agentspace could help Google to compete more directly in the enterprise AI space, where companies are increasingly looking for ways to make their existing data more accessible and actionable. While it's too early to gauge adoption, early feedback suggests that Agentspace could help bridge the gap between AI's potential and practical workplace implementation.
