Inflection AI has acquired Boundaryless, a leading European provider of Robotic Process Automation solutions. This acquisition aims to accelerate Inflection AI's push into agentic workflows—an approach that empowers AI systems to take autonomous actions within complex enterprise environments.
Boundaryless, based in Switzerland, has established itself as an industry leader in AI-driven automation, data transformation, and analytics for sectors such as finance, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing. Their expertise in deploying automation solutions like UiPath for Fortune 500 companies likely made them an attractive acquisition target for Inflection AI.
A core part of the company's new enterprise offering is centered around their recently launched Agentic Workflows. Unlike other AI assistants that primarily retrieve information, Inflection AI aims to integrate deeply into enterprise systems, enabling actions that are as natural and trustworthy as those of a human colleague.
The company promises a differentiated AI solution that not only understands (IQ) or empathizes (EQ) but can also take decisive actions (AQ). In an enterprise context, AQ refers to an AI's ability to handle tasks effectively, much like a trusted assistant, integrating data from multiple systems and executing predetermined actions reliably.
However, a fundamental challenge with generative AI adoption in enterprise workflows has been the issue of trust. Businesses are understandably cautious about relying on probabilistic systems where the risk of incorrect or "hallucinated" actions could harm their reputation or lead to regulatory issues.
This is where Boundaryless's capabilities come in. Their expertise with UiPath's extensive integration ecosystem, which includes over 1,400 connectors, enables Inflection AI to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of enterprise data sources. This hybrid approach—combining deterministic systems like RPA with the probabilistic models underlying large language models—ensures both the accuracy and the reliability of the actions taken by Inflection AI's enterprise agents.
This strategic acquisition also marks Inflection AI's first direct expansion into Europe, establishing the new Swiss office as a hub for EMEA sales, implementation, and partner enablement.
Erik Gillet, CEO of Boundaryless, noted that joining Inflection AI will allow their team to expand automation programs across new domains of AI-enabled action. "Our customers are eager to integrate AI into their automation strategies, and Inflection AI has a unique and exciting offering," Gillet shared, emphasizing the growing demand for combining RPA with AI-driven decision-making.
The acquisition comes as Inflection AI, known for its consumer AI assistant Pi, refocuses on enterprise applications under Sean White's leadership. The company aims to help businesses truly own their AI systems while ensuring these systems can be trusted to perform actions accurately and align with company policies.
The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
