Intel today announced the formation of Articul8 AI, an independent company offering enterprise customers a full-stack generative AI software platform. With backing from DigitalBridge Group's venture arm and other investors, Articul8 emerges from Intel's own AI research with the goal of accelerating adoption of this transformative technology.

Articul8's platform runs generative AI workloads securely within an organization's own infrastructure. This allows customers to leverage AI insights while maintaining control of their data. The company promises enterprises the benefits of speed, scalability, security and cost efficiency.

Intel originally collaborated with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to build a generative AI system optimized on Intel hardware. This addressed BCG's need for on-premises solutions that wouldn't compromise sensitive data. Many other potential customers echoed similar data privacy and security concerns, said incoming Articul8 CEO Arun Subramaniyan.

Subramaniyan joins from Intel, where he led AI and data center strategy. His vision is to make enterprise-grade generative AI accessible beyond proofs of concept. The expert team combines veterans from Intel, AWS, BCG and other leaders aiming to operationalize AI across industries.

While launching as an independent company, Intel and Articul8 will remain aligned strategically. Intel CEO, Pat Gelsinger, highlighted the strategic importance of this venture. “With deep AI and high-performance computing (HPC) expertise, Articul8 stands to enhance business outcomes significantly for both Intel and our wider network of customers and partners,” Gelsinger commented. This move is part of Intel's broader strategy to proliferate AI technology across various sectors.

The funding for Articul8 includes participation from Intel and a syndicate of renowned venture investors like Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, and others—each securing equity stakes in the new company.

Marc Ganzi, CEO of DigitalBridge, expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration. “GenAI is a game-changer for global enterprises integrating AI into their operations. Articul8’s scalable, user-friendly GenAI platform is set to revolutionize the way enterprises leverage their proprietary data," Ganzi stated.

As AI technology matures, enterprises are recognizing its potential while proceeding cautiously. Intel's spinout of Articul8 taps unmet demand from customers seeking AI capabilities without relinquishing control of their data. It's a model that could prove compelling across many regulated industries wrestling with digital transformation.
