Today, Microsoft announced an array of exciting new AI-powered features designed to simplify your workflow and personalize your experience on Copilot+ PCs and Windows 11. The updates, available starting this holiday season, are all about making your PC smarter, faster, and more secure, putting the full power of AI right at your fingertips.
One of the standout features is Recall, lets you instantly find something you’ve previously viewed on your PC. Since the feature was first anounced earlier this year, Microsoft has worked with the community to make it more secure and to fix privacy bugs. Users have control over what’s saved, and the tool uses Windows Hello to confirm it’s you before unlocking the experience. It will also keep sensitive information—like credit card numbers or personal identification—secure by default. You’ll start seeing Recall on Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs in October, with Intel and AMD devices following in November.
Another popular feature is Click to Do. This adds an interactive overlay that pops up with suggested actions based on what you’re doing. For example, it might offer quick actions like erasing objects in a photo, summarizing text, or sending an email, all with a simple click. Click to Do works anywhere on your screen and makes everything—from quick edits to more complex tasks—easier and faster.
Finding files on your PC also just got a whole lot simpler with Improved Windows Search. Now, you can describe what you’re looking for in your own words, like “BBQ party photos,” and Windows will find it—even if you don’t remember the exact file name. This AI-powered search works even when you’re offline, thanks to the powerful 40+ TOPS NPU built into Copilot+ PCs.
For those of you who love to create or edit images, Microsoft is introducing Super Resolution in Photos. This tool can take your old or lower-resolution images and quickly turn them into high-quality, 4K visuals. No more blurry or pixelated photos. You can upscale an image with just a slider, and the on-device AI handles everything within seconds.
In Paint, Generative Fill and Erase make editing images even more intuitive. Whether you’re removing distractions from a photo or adding new elements, you can do it with an adjustable brush, giving you precise control over your creativity.
These updates are part of Microsoft’s continued push to position AI at the core of the Windows 11 experience. Microsoft also announced the Windows 11 version 24H2 update, which includes features like Energy Saver for extended battery life, improved hearing aid support, and Wi-Fi 7 compatibility.
The new features will be available to Windows Insider community members first, with a phased rollout to select devices and markets beginning in November.
