You.com Secures $50M to Reshape Enterprise AI Productivity

You.com, the AI-powered productivity platform, has secured $50 million in Series B funding, signaling a major shift in the enterprise AI landscape. The round, led by Georgian with participation from tech giants Nvidia and Salesforce Ventures, brings You.com's total funding to $95 million.

Founded by former Salesforce AI leaders Richard Socher and Bryan McCann, You.com has gained significant traction since its 2021 launch. The platform has served over 1 billion queries and boasts millions of active users across hedge funds, tech unicorns, and public companies. Impressively, You.com's annual recurring revenue has grown by 500% since January 2024.

While competitors like Perplexity remain focused on search, You.com is making a conscious shift toward becoming an all-encompassing productivity engine for enterprises. Socher and McCann see this as a natural evolution. In their view, businesses don’t just need tools to find information — they need AI that can help teams use that information to drive results.

"When we first started You.com, we saw an opportunity to reinvent the gateway to everyone's online journey," said Richard Socher, co-founder and CEO of You.com. "We built You.com to enhance productivity, inspire new thinking, and develop a deeper understanding of the world through human-AI collaboration."

You.com's approach tackles a key challenge in enterprise AI adoption: accuracy. The company has developed an AI Operating System that's model-agnostic, that they claim is designed to make any LLM more accurate and trustworthy.

The funding announcement coincides with You.com's launch of new features aimed at enhancing team collaboration:

  1. A "Research Agent" that analyzes multiple sources and delivers comprehensive reports with verifiable citations.
  2. A "Genius Agent" for solving complex problems using Python code and chain-of-thought reasoning.
  3. Custom AI agents that teams can build, share, and discover, tailored to specific tasks or brand guidelines.

These tools form part of You.com's new "Team plan," which the company describes as "multiplayer AI." This shift from individual to collaborative AI use could significantly impact how enterprises approach AI-powered productivity.

"It's easy to make a quick prototype with an LLM. It's difficult to make them accurate at scale," Socher explained. "Our focus at You.com has been making LLMs more trustworthy."

You.com's platform also aims to address "AI sprawl" – the proliferation of AI tool subscriptions within organizations. By offering access to multiple leading language models through a single interface, You.com positions itself as a potential solution to this growing problem.

Margaret Wu, Lead Investor at Georgian, highlighted the platform's potential: "When Georgian's AI Lab diligenced the technical strength behind You.com's AI productivity engine, we saw the platform's B2B potential. We believe that You.com's deep bench of talent and technical expertise will continue to position the company ahead of competitors in a quickly evolving market."
