At its annual MAX conference, Adobe previewed Project Concept, a new AI-powered tool for creative brainstorming. The tool is designed to make ideation quicker, more imaginative, and collaborative, allowing designers to focus on exploring a broader range of creative possibilities.
Adobe says Project Concept is built for the early moments of every creative journey—where time, resources, and imagination converge to shape the future of a project. This AI-first product leans on Adobe's latest Firefly Generative AI models, enabling designers to swiftly generate ideas, mix assets, transform specific regions, and remix styles and elements. The goal is clear: spend less time on mundane production tasks and more time pushing the boundaries of what's creatively possible.
This looks like a handy tool to use for design sprints. Imagine starting a project with just a seed of an idea. Whether using your own assets or other sources of inspiration, Project Concept steps in to facilitate both "divergent" and "convergent" thinking. Divergent thinking illuminates the many possible paths a creative project could take, helping you freely experiment with potential directions. Convergent thinking then helps you bring these ideas together, refine the details, and choose the right creative direction—all without the pressure of feeling confined to a single path too early.
For designers, the value here is significant. One of the toughest parts of creative work is having enough time and space to properly explore—often, tight deadlines force convergence on a limited number of concepts before the best ideas have had a chance to emerge. Project Concept aims to transform this dynamic by providing an environment where you can explore a wide range of ideas, remix images in real-time, and collaborate seamlessly with your team. Think of it as a mood-board that can not only inspire but also actively create alongside you, expanding the creative surface area in ways that feel organic and exploratory.
Project Concept is also designed to be collaborative and integrated deeply with Adobe Creative Cloud, making workflows between tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Express seamless. Importantly, it respects the work of artists through Content Credentials, ensuring transparency and proper recognition for all content sources.
Project Concept is still in the early stages of testing, and will be released in private beta soon.
