Microsoft has just lifted the curtain on its new Copilot+ PCs, a new line of Windows PCs designed with AI at their core. Yusuf Mehdi, Executive Vice President and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer at Microsoft, introduced these devices at a special event held today at the company's new campus.
Microsoft is touting Copilot+ PCs as the fastest and most intelligent Windows PCs they've ever built. They are powered by cutting-edge silicon that can perform an astonishing 40+ trillion operations per second (TOPS) while offering all-day battery life. This enables users to accomplish tasks that were previously unimaginable on any other PC.
The devices are built on a new system architecture that seamlessly integrates the Central Processing Unit (CPU), Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), and a new high-performance Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This trio of processors, enhanced by large language models (LLMs) in the Azure Cloud, gives Copilot+ PCs unprecedented performance and efficiency in handling AI workloads.
AI-Enhanced Features
Copilot+ PCs introduce a range of innovative features that leverage the power of AI:
- Recall: This feature gives your PC a "photographic memory," allowing you to instantly find anything you've seen or done on your device. You can search across timelines, applications, websites, and documents, with the help of snapshots.
- Cocreator: With Cocreator, you can use text prompts and your ink strokes to generate images in real time. It offers a creativity slider to choose from a range of artistic styles, from literal to expressive.
- Restyle Image: This feature combines image generation and photo editing, allowing you to apply preset styles or make custom changes to the background, foreground, or entire image.
- Live Captions: Live Captions now include live translations, converting audio from over 40 languages into English captions in real time across all your apps.
- Windows Studio Effects: The Quick Settings option enhances your video calls with automatic lighting adjustments and creative filters.
